Adopt-A-Beach Volunteer Clean-Up

September 20, 2014

Tired of finding plastic bags, food wrappers and other unsightly trash littering your favorite Great Lakes beach? Be part of the solution and join thousands of volunteers in cleaning Great Lakes shorelines during the Alliance for the Great Lake’s Annual September Adopt-a-Beach™ Event on Saturday, September 20th, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

Volunteers who participate in the event not only remove debris, they also record their findings. In 2013, more than 6,800 volunteers removed 19,000 pounds of trash from over 260 sites.

In 2014, the Alliance invites you to join a public beach clean-up at:

•  Montrose Beach - (hosted by the Sierra Club)
•  Evanston Dempster-Greenwood Beach - (hosted by Go Outside! Evanston, a Chicago Wilderness Leave No Child Inside Initiative)
•  Highland Park’s Park Avenue Boating Beach - (hosted by the Park District of Highland Park)
•  Zion Hosah Park Beach - (hosted by the Zion Park District)
