Building School Gardens Ribbon Cutting - Fleming Elementary

June 9, 2014 | 2pm

Please join Openlands in the afternoon of June 9 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the newest Chicago Public Schools School Garden at Alexander Fleming Elementary School. For seven years now, Openlands' Building School Gardens program has helped Chicago Public Schools students and communities engage with nature through outdoor classrooms. The Building School Gardens program works to bring open green spaces to school campus, free for all to enjoy. Since the program began in 2007, Openlands has completed 56 school gardens with the generous support of BMO Harris Bank.

The newest garden will open at Alexander Fleming Elementary School, 4918 West 64th Street, Chicago, on June 9 at 2pm.  The ceremony will be the culmination of over a year's worth of community work towards preservation and sustainability. Please join local officials, school adminstrators, and students for the festivities.
