Building School Gardens Ribbon Cutting - La Salle II Academy

June 12, 2014 | 3pm

Please join Openlands to celebrate the continued work of the Building School Gardens program. For seven years now, Openlands' Building School Gardens program has helped Chicago Public Schools students and communities engage with nature through outdoor classrooms. The Building School Gardens program works to bring open green spaces to school campus, free for all to enjoy. Since the program began in 2007, Openlands has completed 56 school gardens with the generous support of BMO Harris Bank.

A ribbon cutting ceremony on June 12 will commemorate the new mural recently completed in the La Salle II Magnet Academy community garden. The mural is the second stage of development for the campus' garden. The first stage, the outdoor classroom, was completed in November 2013. Construction will begin on the Wolcott Garden in August, with additional student contributions planned for September. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Wolcott Garden will take place later in the fall. Please join us to celebrate the continued community engagement with nature happening at La Salle II Academy's campus.
