Points-of-Interest
Port Byron
- Site of the across-the-Mississippi tug-of-war every August with the townfolk of LeClaire, Iowa. Be ready for a smile or a sneer when you ask who won the last one.
Hampton
- U.S. Lock & Dam #14 approximately 2 miles south of the I-80 overpass. It’s on an unmarked short access road. Nice picnic park and an opportunity to walk out past the fishermen on a 0.2 mile dike to the foot of the dam and its incredibly powerful rushing waters--a place to feel the might of the Mississippi. The closest you will ever get to herons, pelicans, and cormorants who are a lot more interested in the fish than in you.
