Point-of-Interest

Multiple motels on the north side of town centered on Division St./Rte.47 north and south of I-80. This is a busy highway. If you need any of these motels use Liberty Street 2 blocks west of Division St. for easier riding at least halfway up to the motel area.

Gebhard Woods State Park, on the west edge of Morris bordered by the I&M Canal Trail, 815-942-0796, imcanal@uti.com Primitive tent camping only: gear must be walked (1/3 mile) to campsite, no vehicular access. Fire rings, picnic tables, and grills are located in the camping area. A drinking fountain and pit toilets are located within a short distance from the camping area. A camping permit must be obtained from the information center which is open daily 10am-4pm.

Illini State Park, take the bridge over the Illinois River short distance to park entrance, 815-795-2448,illini@dnrmail.state.il.us Some of the sites offer great views of the river. Youth area should be reserved in advance through the site office.

Troll Hollow Campground, south across Illinois River bridge 1 mile, right at stop sign, approx 0.2 mi. to troll Hollow sign, left up hill approx. 1 mile 815-795-2537.
Whispering Pine Campground, approx. 1/2 mile east of Marseilles on I&M Canal Trail, turn left just past blue camp ground sign, head up bluff on 2625 Rd. approx. 1 mile to campground. 815-795-5720
