Illinois Water TrailKeepers Plan Clean-Ups

 

trailkeepersSponsored by Openlands and the Illinois Paddling Council, Illinois Water TrailKeepers is a volunteer corps that maintains water trails. Volunteers paddle a stretch of water trail and report blockages or other problems that might pose a danger or obstacle to paddlers. Many Water TrailKeepers also organize clean-ups, and we need your help.

Paddle-A-Trail

Paddle-A-Trail enlists the help of seasoned and first-time paddlers alike to document the ever-changing conditions on waterways in northeastern Illinois and the surrounding region. This annual event continues the rich tradition of waterways exploration and mapping in the Midwest and provides an easy, healthy, and unique way to enjoy countless crowd-less miles of rivers, streams, and lakes.

StreamLeaders

If you’re concerned about the quality of water and diversity of animals in our region’s rivers and streams, sign up for StreamLeaders, a hands-on training course designed to enhance citizen participation in stream conservation. This year's StreamLeaders classes will take place at Spring Creek, in the Hadley Valley Forest Preserve, near Joliet, IL. (See the Google map below for the exact location.
