Founded in 1963, Openlands protects the natural and open spaces of northeastern Illinois and the surrounding region to ensure cleaner air and water, protect natural habitats and wildlife, and help balance and enrich our lives.

Marshall Field V, Honorary Director

An avid fisherman, Marshal Field V has a strong interest in conservation. In addition to serving as an Honorary Director on the Openlands Board, he is active in various conservation organizations including the Nature Conservancy, the Atlantic Salmon Federation, the Board of Visitors of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. He also serves as the Chairman of the National Council of the World Wildlife Fund.
