Robert Megquier, Chief Operating Officer

Bob Megquier is the Chief Operating Officer for Openlands and is involved with the full breadth of Openlands' work.  Bob also supervises Openlands' land preservation work that includes protecting land for conservation and parks and ecological and wetlands restoration.  He is the project manager for the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve, an ecologically significant holding with exceptional public access on the shores of Lake Michigan.  This work takes Bob throughout the greater Chicago region where he works with other land preservation partners, government agencies, and individuals.

Bob joined Openlands in 2004 after a career with the Chicago Park District where he held several senior positions, including Director of Planning & Development.  He played a central role in increasing the quantity and quality of the city's parks for Chicagoans and visitors initiating programs such as natural areas restoration, higher standards for landscape maintenance, and a master plan for riverfront holdings.

Bob is a registered Landscape Architect in Illinois and Michigan and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
