Glenda Daniel, Associate Director

Glenda Daniel joined Openlands in 1995, after returning to Chicago from Seattle, where she was development director for People for Puget Sound. She has extensive experience in conservation, including six years as executive director of Lake Michigan Federation (now the Alliance for the Great Lakes), publications director at the Center for the Great Lakes, and publications coordinator at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Prior to that, Glenda worked as a reporter for the former Chicago Today, taught as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and regularly contributed to the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and other local and national publications.

She is the author of  Dune Country: A Hiker’s Guide to the Indiana Dunes and, with her husband Jerry Sullivan, The North Woods: A Sierra Club Naturalist’s Guide, as well as several other hiking books. Glenda also serves on the board of directors for NeighborSpace.
