In 2008, Emy Brawley relocated to the Chicago area from Colorado, where she worked for the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department. There, she oversaw land acquisition, conservation easements, and water rights for the county’s sales-tax-funded open space program. She has also represented land trusts and landowners as an attorney in conservation easement transactions.

Emy served on the board of PLAN-Boulder County, a citizens' organization that works to ensure governmental policies in Boulder and Boulder County are sensitive to environmental issues, and is a contributing author of Environmental Regulation of Colorado Real Property.  She currently serves as Treasurer of the Prairie State Conservation Coalition.
