Peterson Farm

Peterson Park, in the City of McHenry, Illinois, is home to the landmark Peterson Farm, a historic site featuring a mid-1800s homestead.

Over time, the city acquired 127 acres of scenic farmland, wooded oak savanna, and wetlands. When it was ready to buy another sixty acres to complete the park, it asked Openlands Land Preservation to acquire the land while it applied for a state grant. McHenry residents now have a unique recreational and historic resource.
