This is a Forest Preserve District of Will County event. 

History: Joliet Iron Works Historic Site was the site of an iron manufacturing facility from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The Forest Preserve District of Will County the property between 1991 and 1997. The historic site now features 0.59 miles of paved trail that includes a self-guided interperative tour of the site's cultural history. 

Openlands' involvement: CorLands, the former land acquisitions branch of Openlands, helped to acquire land at the historic site in the early '90s. Joliet Iron Works is also adjacent to the Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor.
