Judge Allows Lawsuit Against Lucas Museum to Continue

February 4, 2016

Openlands is pleased that the federal lawsuit to block the construction of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art filed by Friends of the Parks will proceed. On February 4, 2016, U.S. District Judge John Darrah denied a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. This action allows the merits of the case which contends the land selected for the museum site, formerly part of Lake Michigan, is held in the public trust and should be protected and preserved for the state's residents to be discussed through an open process.  Openlands supports a thorough review and public process to protect Chicago’s lakefront.

Openlands believes that our lakefront should be public open space, accessible to all with unobstructed views.
