Openlands Lakeshore Preserve Fall Walk

September 14, 2013 | 10:30am - 11:30am

The Openlands Lakeshore Preserve has scenic views and beautiful landscapes. All are incorporated within a bluff and ravine ecosystem. Throughout our longest ravine, several art installations add to the landscape, allowing visitors to engage all their senses.

Our Fall Walk will embrace the changing season through the art installations. Touring the Preserve, we will be able to admire the artwork while learning one interpretation of how the installations can relate to the seasonal shift from Summer to Fall.

Come out and enjoy the Preserve during this beautiful time of year, with an educational walk. This program will start in our main parking lot on Patten Road, after which we will tour some of our art installations inside Bartlett Ravine. We will wrap up the program along our Hamill Family Upland Trail at the Sun Central overlook.  Expect to walk at a leisurely pace for about 1.5 miles on paved trails and to go up and down our bluff and ravine staircases, a total of about 150 steps. Limited parking will be available at the Preserve’s parking lot on Patten Road.

RSVP: The event is free, but space is limited. Please RSVP no later than September 13 at or 815-701-1999
