Join Openlands for our 4th year of partnership with the Plants of Concern biological monitoring program at the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve. Volunteer citizen scientists work with expert staff from the Chicago Botanic Garden to monitor a variety of biological factors at the Preserve, helping to grow our understanding of the site’s unique ravine, bluff, and lakeshore ecosystems.

Plants of Concern volunteers working at the Preserve are trained on site and no special background is required, though we do encourage enthusiasm and curiosity about local ecology! However, Plants of Concern does offer orientation workshops where you can learn more about field techniques and monitoring locations across the region, including the Preserve.

The program begins in early to mid-May and continues through September. Contact lakeshorepreserve@openlands.org for more information.

Register online for the orientation worshop.
