'It's Our River Day' Celebration and Clean-Up

September 19, 2015 | 01:00pm

Join Illinois Water Trail Keepers (a partnership of Openlands and Illinois Paddling Council), the Village of Algonquin, the National Park Service, and Wilderness Inquiry at the  “It’s Our River Day” celebration and clean-up. Wilderness Inquiry will be offering rides in voyageur boats which are large canoes like those used by French Canadian Fur Traders. This will allow people to clean up using trash grabbers from these boats. Spaces in the voyageur boats are limited, but people are also invited to clean up on shore. You can also visit booths and attend talks by environmental, outdoor, governmental, and “green” business groups.

The on-the-water clean up from voyageur boats is made possible in part by funding from REI.

This event is free and open to the public.
