Partners for Livable Communities Honors Openlands

November 24, 2015

At the Partners for Livable Communities Celebration of Vision & Community Building Awards on November 9, Openlands' President and CEO Jerry Adelmann was presented with a 25+ Years Of Excellence Award. This award honors organizations and their leaders that have “exemplified strong and enduring leadership, creative solutions to community challenges, and long-term relevance thereby paving the way for other community building entities.”

Since 1963, and under Adelmann’s leadership since 1988, Openlands has helped protect more than 55,000 acres of land for public parks and forest preserves, wildlife refuges, land and water greenway corridors, urban farms, and community gardens.

Partners for Livable Communities has long been honoring individuals and organizations in recognition of innovative projects and records of achievement that have advanced the principles of livability. "This year's honorees represent lifetimes of leadership in their respective fields spanning architecture, academia, civic leadership, real estate development, and arts and culture. Their innovative leadership has made their communities better places to live."
