Find Out What's Happening

Openlands wants you to be an active and vocal member of your community. The first step, of course, is educating yourself.

This can be a daunting task—especially given the deluge of information arriving every day via e-mail, podcast, television, and a myriad of other broadcast, electronic, and print sources.

Here are some steps to ensure that you’re receiving the information that matters most to you:

  • Bookmark the Openlands homepage for up-to-date information about land and water conservation issues in northeastern Illinois and the surrounding region (become a fan of our Facebook page too),
  • Subscribe to RSS feeds from the media you enjoy and trust,
  • Sign up with the Illinois Action Project (I-ACT), an alert system sponsored by state environmental groups that notifies you of pressing issues and upcoming votes,
  • If you live in Chicago, visit EveryBlock, which filters an assortment of local news by location so you can keep track of what’s happening on your block, in your neighborhood, and all over the city, and
  • STAY CURIOUS.
