Openlands Program Divisions

Openlands conducts its work through three program divisions--Greenways, Policy, Urban Greening and a special initiative program, Corporatelands--and in cooperation with its affiliate land acquisition organization, CorLands.

Greenways - Through the work of its Greenways program division, Openlands weaves a web of green to tie the region together. We work with local governments and the public to develop effective watershed management techniques. Greenways staff also train and support StreamLeader volunteers.

PolicyThrough legislative action, policy research and analysis, and facilitation of citizen activism, the Openlands Policy program division is at the forefront of open space advocacy in our region. Openlands provides technical and policy expertise while working with public officials and the general public to create better laws, bolster public financial support, and build a stronger constituency for the preservation of open space.

Urban Greening - In urban neighborhoods, Openlands provides technical and community organizing assistance for open space planning and neighborhood greening through its Urban Greening program division. Urban Greening staff also train and support hundreds of TreeKeeper volunteers who care for the urban forest.

Corporatelands -  The Corporatelands Program is designed to provide outreach and technical assistance to corporations interested in natural landscaping and natural stormwater management techniques on their campuses.

CorLands - As Openlands' real estate affiliate organization, CorLands works with local governments and private landowners to preserve key land parcels through acquisition and conservation easements.
