Lenore Beyer-Clow, Policy Director

Lenore Beyer-Clow plans, implements, and coordinates the Openlands’ legislative and advocacy agenda. She also manages projects to protect water quantity and quality and advocates for the protection of land and natural resources throughout the region. Lenore is spearheading the effort to create the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge on the Illinois – Wisconsin border and works on connecting creation of a viable local food system to farmland protection.

Previously, Lenore was the executive director of the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, a citizen advocacy organization, where she worked on environmental policy and education issues, including protecting rivers and wetlands, groundwater, sustainable land use, natural landscaping, and waste reduction.
