Marilyn Jackson joined the Openlands Board of Directors in 2017. She is Vice President of Marketing and Communications at the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago where she leads efforts to increase engagement and support of United Way’s work in under-resourced neighborhoods. Her career blends more than 20 years of marketing and strategic planning experience in both non-profit and corporate environments. She has held management positions at Six Flags Theme Parks and the Ameritech Corporation.
“I first learned about Openlands when I attended the Annual Luncheon,” recalls Marilyn. “As my children are moving on to college, I was looking for new volunteer opportunities that were no longer tied to my children’s academic institutions. I was also looking for a great organization where my skill sets could be an asset to the board and the organization. I found both of these at Openlands.”
Marilyn says that her favorite nature getaways always involve lakes, rivers, and creeks.
