Manager of Education and Community Outreach

The Manager of Education and Community Outreach is responsible for the coordination, implementation, control, and completion of education and outreach projects, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments, and goals of the organization. The Manager ensures quality delivery of education and outreach programs either through direct implementation or by partnering with local organizations. This is a full-time, exempt position and requires flexibility with weekend work during spring and autumn field trip seasons and other occasional weekends and evenings during the year. This position reports to the Vice President of Community Conservation and will oversee staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help define project scope, goals and deliverables for educational programs.
  • Assist in establishing new programming and outreach opportunities.
  • Develop and monitor goals and performance measures for educational events/programs,
  • Assist in developing educational materials for outreach programs.
  • Evaluate the educational impact desired, and activities needed to develop programmatic content.

Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget by:

  • Coordinating internal resources to ensure execution of projects
  • Delegating project tasks based on staff members’ individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Ensuring that staff resource availability and scheduling aligns with departmental goals

Measure and assess project performance by:

  • Create and maintain a detailed project plan to monitor and track and progress.
  • Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs, as needed.
  • Analyzing the factors leading to successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meeting budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Environmental Education
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Spanish-speaking preferred
