Al De Reu

Al serves as the TreeKeepers Program Manager. He had been an Openlands member and TreeKeeper for several years before joining the Openlands staff. Prior to joining Openlands, Al was a Senior Editor in education publishing working on math textbooks for nearly 10 years. He also previously taught ACT and SAT test prep courses, managed a wine store, and worked at several nurseries. He studied forestry before earning his degree in math and minor in Spanish. As a former resident of Fort Sheridan, Al has a personal connection to the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve. This inspires his appreciation for urban forestry, open spaces, and environmental education. Al is an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist (IL-9738A). Al holds a B.S., Mathematics from Northern Arizona University.
