Chris Bourbois is a Forestry Trainee with Openlands. He, along with three other trainees, is learning urban forestry best practices and assisting with community tree plantings. As part of the program, he is also assisting with field maintenance and participating in professional development and education opportunities.
Chris began working with plants in college, running UT Austin’s on-campus gardens. Following that experience, he worked in and contributed research to a plant genetics lab at UT Austin. After spending a few months working as a utility forester with Davey Resource Group, he made his way to the Openlands forestry trainee program. He is excited to return to field work and community engagement.
