Emily Reusswig

Emily Reusswig is the Director of Communications at Openlands, and works with the leadership, staff and board to create and implement messaging and communication strategies that build advocates for nature. Emily’s work sits at the intersection of community building and message creation, developing authentic engagement with and amplification of nature-based solutions to climate change. Her most recent experience was serving as the Executive Director of the Chicago Cultural Alliance, where she led the creation of many successful programs, campaigns and initiatives that increased awareness of and engagement in regional first-voice cultural heritage centers. Prior to her work at the Alliance, Emily held development and communication positions at the place-based spectacle company, Redmoon. Emily is proud to be TreeKeeper #1526, was the 2019 recipient of the Promising Young Leadership Award from the Association of Midwest Museums, and 2019 Aspen Ideas Festival Fellow. She is a graduate of DePaul University.
